Kaunas Literature Week 2022

This year, Kauno literatūros savaitė (Kaunas Literature Week), an international festival of writers and books will take place from May 4 to 8. The second edition of the festival will celebrate Lithuanian and foreign, young and established writers and poets from Lithuania and all over the world. The festival will open by a meeting with Ms. Vaiva Grainytė, the winner of the Lithuanian National Culture award, and it will be closed by Ms. Halyna Kruk and other Ukrainian authors in the event of solidarity and literature. This year, the literary horizons will expand from France to Indonesia, stopping at some closer locations as well, ringing with words and music. The programme will feature the traditional reading session “Locals and Emigrees”, the “New Winds” programme for the emerging writers and an open mic event with prizes for winners. For the weekend, we plan to host a fair for second-half and alternative books “Book Freedom”, poetry brunch, and several public readings among other initiatives for the centre of town. The program of the festival will be also filled with initiatives by museums, libraries, literary initiatives and institutions – our partners and friends of the festival.
