Mocuments // A Retrospective of Gintaras Makarevičius

The Kaunas Artists' House programme "Mocuments" - a project for the dissemination of video art and films analysing the construction of different realities - invites to the second cycle of the films screenings "Personal as Historical". 🏁 The films’ screenings cycle "Personal as Historical" is designed to delve into the relationship between personal history, narrative, and archive, when the spontaneous action of documenting a person becomes a historical document. A little retrospective of Gintaras Makarevičius’s video works with the participation of the artist himself will start the second cycle on October 21. Gintaras Makarevičius' artistic practice includes documentaries, video installations, performances, objects, and scenography. The artist has been best known as a scenographer for the last ten years. In 2017 he won the National Culture and Art Award for his theater works. The event will feature three films by the artist: "Hot" (1999), "Somewhere Elsewhere" (2012), and "Relocation" (2013). The event will be held in Lithuanian. 💭 Movies screening is FREE, but the possibility pass and registration to the event is required: https://cutt.ly/kRwQEyj --- The "Mocuments" project is part of the extended program "Unlearning Eastern Europe". This project aims to rethink the problems specific to the Eastern European region, from the traumas of the historical past, the possibilities of decolonization to the strategies of memory politics or activism.
