Porcelain City - Exhibition of International Bone China symposium
The exhibition PORCELAIN CITY of the International Bone China Symposium presents porcelain art works created especially for this exhibition. The main theme of the exhibition is post-industrial ceramic art and design, the exhibition is dedicated to the history of Kaunas porcelain.
The participants of this year's Bone China Symposium are world-renowned artists Monika Patuszynska (Poland),Sabrina Basten (Germany), Alison Safford (USA), Janina Myronova (Poland/Ukraine), Jurgita Jasinskaitė (Lithuania), Ming-Miao Ko (Belgium). , Jānis Kupčs (Latvia), Viktória Maróti (Hungary), photographer and designer Liudas Parulskis (Lithuania).
The exhibition is accompanied by a thematic exposition reviewing the history of Kaunas porcelain, porcelain dishes and design examples created in "Jiesia", dishes and tableware projects created by the Department of Ceramics and Porcelain of the Kaunas Art Institute. The exhibition covers the short period of the factory's prosperity from 1978, when the first bone china dishes were produced, to 2006 factory bankruptcy.
