Sound performance "going to the middle"
"going to the middle" - a narrative of unexpected soundscapes in the darkness, accompanied by lines from Jonas Mekas' poetry.
The performance created by the community of the blind together with sound artists continues its journey and this time invites the inhabitants of Kaunas to experience total darkness and the sound worlds that are born in it.
"Listening is another form of seeing", the creators of the performance are convinced. Sound artist, and composer Vladas Dieninis and Dominyka Adomaitytė, a master of synchronous noises, together with the blind sound actors embarked on a creative exploration of hearing as a sense that replaces vision. Thus, musical stories were born by hand in the darkness, told through the sounds of seemingly simple household objects - paper, metal, or wood. The sonic dramaturgy was complemented by the spacious and cinematic poems of Jonas Mekas.
For the fourth season, the sound art and music education project "Background of Sight" invites you to discover the soundscapes seen by the blind and visually impaired.
