HATED FOR THE GODS: Sean Patrick Mulroy performance and international Open Mic
Tender and joyous, sexy and ferocious, hilarious and tragic – often all at once – Mulroy's stage show is a call to action and a work of art.
On 5 November at 7 pm, we invite you to an international evening of slam poetry. We will start with a performance by Sean Patric Mulroy, followed by an open mic for anyone who wishes to express their work in English.
ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE
Gorgeously rendered and skillfully constructed both to educate and inspire, artist and activist Sean Patrick Mulroy writes and performs poetry that weaves together stories from his coming of age with the lives of queer people throughout recorded history. His full-length collection, Hated for the Gods, invites the audience to embrace their queer heritage with disarming tenderness and urges them to celebrate the joy of gay life and sex without shame. The result will leave you shocked with all you didn’t know about the history of queer people, and surprised by what you already knew but never could articulate.
ABOUT THE OPEN MIC
After the performance, the stage will be given to poets, comedians, amateurs, and enthusiasts to share their work in English. All formats of literary work are accepted (poetry, prose, storytelling, etc.), it has to be original work (created and performed by the same person). Participants of the open mic are allowed to use props, instruments, and/or costumes, there is no hard limit of stage time, but the organizers ask to not exceed 5 min.
