On 31 October at 7 pm, we invite you to the opening of the NICHE concert series at Kaunas Artists' House. During the series, Lithuanian sound artists and composers will present live performances of vocal, electronic, alternative, and experimental works, revealing new possibilities for voice and sound. Diverse methodologies and sonic expressions - from minimalist solos to performative electroacoustic compositions - will create unique experiences and provoke new ways of listening.

THE CYCLE WILL BE OPENED BY:

▞ Manipulation Charm - a collaborative improvisational project between the Lithuanian experimental vocal trio Edgy Palates and the Norwegian-born Canadian performer and programmer Mike McCormick.

A delicate and meticulous mix of subtle melodies and unexpected vocal sounds is gently and carefully captured on stage, created here and now by Dainora Aleksaitė, Ieva Parnarauskaitė, and Jura Elena Šedytė, and integrated into the software system programmed by Mike McCormick with the SuperCollider, and developed for about a year now. Mike, like a modern alchemist, processes the music created by Edgy Palates by passing it through a matrix of modules. What was a natural and lively voice becomes something strangely and interestingly different.

▞ The concert will also feature the performance of Casta Diva, initiated by director Greta Štiormer. The performance explores how diversity and limitation interact in our world. Casta Diva faces many difficult and repetitive situations where his/her dreams and needs are limited by what society thinks. The importance of uniqueness is overshadowed by the strong influence of societal judgments and labels. The performance will be presented by singer and countertenor Vaidas Bartušas.
