Future / Memory, opening of the exhibition
The city of Kaunas has an impressive concentration of modernist buildings, built during the short inter-war period when Kaunas was the capital of the state. International and intercultural exchanges took place here, bringing together architects and artists not only from Lithuania, but also from Germany, Poland, Russia, Switzerland and the USA.
The city's unique history and the international cultural cooperation that once took place here continue to inspire today. A group of artists-curators Konsortium (Lars Breuer, Sebastian Freytag, Guido Münch) (Germany) – invited more than half a hundred artists from all over the world to create a collaborative collective sculpture dedicated to this historic part of the city.
From the end of May to the beginning of July, the artists will present a temporary exhibition in the historic building of the Old Town. In the vicinity of the Historical Presidential Palace, a "miniature museum" will be set up, a three-dimensional map of the city made up of paintings and sculptures. This collective work of art is a symbolic tribute to the city's transnational history.
VENUE OF THE EXHIBITION The exhibition will take place in Gimnazijos g. 4, next to the Historical Presidential Palace of the Republic of Lithuania in Kaunas. Entrance through the Vilnius street, through the garden, or St. Gertrūdos Street parking lot. Follow Kaunas 2022 signs.
