Belly-up Dream (Dog or Fish?) | Cultural Education Activity: Future was here

Different generations, like their representatives, have different perceptions of time - the inevitable element that connects everything. What time leaves outside of our experience resembles a theater production with two-dimensional characters constructed from national, personal histories, and generational clichés. The future, on the other hand, though an incomplete narrative, contains us—alive, fully real, and ever-changing. And what is our relationship with someone else's future? Do we feel compelled to shape a vision for the futures of our grandparents or parents? And how do we position ourselves within the future of the younger generation: through an age-based hierarchy or by embracing the vision of the youth - those into whom we project the future?
---
April 25, 6 p.m. "Belly-up Dream (Dog or Fish?)" - the program of exhibitions, and educational and performative events of the Kaunas Artists' House invites you to interactively explore the future through the eyes of different generations. In the event, co-curated by four representatives of the so-called Gen Z generation, participants will create visions of the future using the aesthetics and hope strategies of youth, inspired by post-irony and pop culture.
---
Co-curators of the event: Miglė, Notas, Gabija, and Kristijonas — four students, who leave their school desks and textbooks only for more important activities: protests, exhibition openings and other activism, cultural, and art events, and gatherings of friends. When they're not debating pop culture or solving crossword puzzles, they engage in a variety of creative activities, from music to painting to writing, in an effort to start a conversation about local and global issues that concern them.

The event is part of the project "Belly-up Dream (Dog or Fish?)". The project is financed by the Lithuanian Council for Culture.
