VOLT&VIBE // Domantas Pūras & Ignas Šoliūnas

17 April, 7 pm. Kaunas Artists' House together with the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre invites to the "VOLT&VIBE" series of events, which brings together composers and performers from different countries, students, lecturers, and guests of the Academy to realise their electrified sound ideas in the spaces of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre and its partners. Let's manifest electricity into sound, sound into thought, thought into feeling, and vice versa. Volt & Vibe celebrates the alchemy of music, the sonification of fantasy, and the freedom to experiment.

This time you'll hear:

Domantas Pūras (LT)

Lithuanian composer of electroacoustic and electronic music. The composer uses post-minimalist / new simplicity structures and long-duration soundscape evolutions in his works. Domantas tends to enrich his music with noise and harmonic textures, which he discovers using acoustic instruments, synthesizers, or recordings. The composer often chooses to use artistic means to explore psychological processes such as collective trauma, the collective unconscious, and the sense of refuge and tends to make them the main focus of his compositions.

Domantas has received the M.K. Čiurlionis Fellowship for his next work for organ and electronics, has performed and collaborated with festivals such as Gaida, Music in Space, Nobel Week Lights, Druskomania, and has performed his music in Lithuania, Sweden, and elsewhere.

Ignas Šoliūnas (LT)

Composer of electronic and electroacoustic music, currently based in Vilnius, Lithuania. His work mainly uses analog electronic instruments such as synthesizers, eurorack modular synthesizers, and magnetic tape players. Often Ignas's music can be found in interdisciplinary projects, especially music and contemporary dance. He uses structures inspired by American minimalism in his compositions, drawing inspiration from composers such as Terry Riley, Steve Reich, La Monte Young, Charlemagne Palestine, and others. Ignas's works and performances have been performed at festivals such as Gaida, My Bloody Festival, Druskomania, ŠHOCK ACADEMIA, and others. Ignas also performs with the electronic music trio El Chico Fuendre and co-founded the contemporary interdisciplinary theatre Bloom Theory Theatre.
