Opening of the exhibition "Hadrian" by artist Lena Lapschina

The exhibition “Hadrian” by the Austrian artist Lena Lapschina will open in Meno Parkas Gallery (Rotušės sq. 27, Kaunas) on May 3, Friday, at 6 pm.

Lena Lapschina presents her latest project "Hadrian", a multi-dimensional exploration comprising four parts of video and sound installation. Through this project, the Austrian artist intricately narrates the quest of the central character, Hadrian, as he seeks a transformative path towards a more fulfilling existence, looking deep into the human consciousness.

Hadrian embarks on his journey one fateful day, driven by an insatiable yearning for a life beyond the ordinary. Departing from Austria, his expedition ends in Croatia, yet the essence of the narrative transcends mere geographical traversal, focusing instead on the inner odyssey of Hadrian's psyche. His pursuit is not for material wealth but for liberation from the confines of his former self. As spectators accompany him on his voyage, they are compelled to ponder the subtle metamorphoses transpiring within him – shrouded in enigma yet captivatingly profound. By ingeniously incorporating the word "Adria" into the film's title, symbolizing the journey's end in Croatia, Lapschina writes a letter to a beloved country, infusing "Hadrian" with a tribute to the Adriatic shores.

Lena Lapschina has been exhibited at leading institutions, like 4th Industrial Art Biennial, Labin, Istria, Kunsthaus Zürich, Museum der Moderne Salzburg, Landesgalerie Niederösterreich, Kunsthalle Wien, Steirischer Herbst, Kunsthal KAdE Amersfoort, Kulturens Hus Luleå, Museo Municipal Tecleño, Joel and Lila Harnett Museum of Art Richmond, FLACC, MAK, OK, among others. She has won the Austrian State Grant for Video and Media Art.

The project is supported by the Lithuanian Council for Culture.

The exhibition in Meno Parkas gallery will be open until May 31.
