Yam Ha x Edgars Rubenis | Concert
Some may be glad, and others may be sad that summer is over. But autumn always brings some new tones, other consonants to which we have to adapt. This transition from summer to autumn will be smoothed by the Yam Ha duo, who will bring a touch of North African melodies to Kaunas. Edgars Rubenis will help to maintain the balance between playfulness and melancholy with his blues and ragtime syncopations.
12 September, 7 PM a warm evening of instrumental music with Yam Ha (FI) and Edgars Rubenis (LV) will be waiting for you at Kaunas Artists' House.

Yam Ha (Jussi Kivi - drums, Juuso Paaso - guitar) transports the audience to the heat of the desert and the wastelands of Western civilization. The swaying rhythms, inspired by the musical traditions of the Saharan Tuaregs, are accompanied by glint-eyed underground rock and the material sensibility of free improvisation. Jussi Kivi learned to play the drums in the 1970s while listening to prog and jazz records. Music-making took a back seat for decades as he pursued a career as a visual artist exploring industrial landscapes and wilderness. In recent years he has returned to drumming. Juuso Paaso is a guitarist and writer interested in the musical peripheries, in maverick experimenters and collectives. He has been making both freeform underground music and DIY rock.
